Here via [livejournal.com profile] gyzym, and I madly love at least 60% of the songs on this mix, so I am downloading to hopefully fall in love with the remainder. Thanks for posting!

Excellent! I do love to spread the joy, and the music. Thanks for taking the time to comment. :D Let me know how you like the rest!

I really, REALLY want to download this -- but it's giving me an error message that the pathways are broken when I try to unzip it. You might want to check it -- it could be just me having problems, but just in case! /hopeful

I came here via [livejournal.com profile] gyzym, and the same happened to me when I tried, so I think there might be some problem with the upload, possibly (it looks amazing from the notes, though!).

Thirding :( The liner notes are awesome though. Plus No Sleep Tonight - The Faders for the smut = :D :D :D

Should be fixed, so go forth and download!

No Sleep Tonight was such an easy choice. I have a number of songs I usually fall back on for just, you know, the walking streak of sex angle, but this one had that nice playful edge.

Hopefully the download should work now. Let me know if it doesn't!

Glad even the liner notes were inspiring...I do like to ramble, but I always want to know why mixers choose certain songs, so I feel I might as well shed a little light on my own song choices. I love hearing what songs other people hear in their heads for their favorite tale/scene too.

That works now. :D Yeah, I love reading why people've picked certain songs for certain moments.

Ack! Apologies all around -- I didn't see this until this morning.

I will check into it and hopefully re-upload tonight (I am at work at the moment, so I can't do it from here...)

It's easy to fix it without reuploading, if you go into the .rar file and just change the file name from wherever you are... to just 'wherever you are' it rips just fine, the file name's just a big long.

Thanks for the help! Teaches me to get creative with file names.

Also, lovely icon. I want a fedora, but I'm not sure I could pull it off so well. :)

Thanks so much! These downloaded just fine this time round. I'm going to listen to them and let you know if there's an issue with any of them, but they should be okay! :)

I’m probably doing something wrong, but I can’t open most of the files and it won’t let me extract them D:

Apparently there was something wonky about using the ellipsis in the file name -- can you give it another go (now that I've changed the file name) and let me know if it works?

I am also hear via gyzym. I'm listening to the soundtrack now and I just love it! I also really appreciated your liner notes and all the thought you've put into this. Thanks!

Thanks! I love making the liner notes almost as much as making the mixes, so it's nice to know they're appreciated too. :D

It looks like the issue is the "..." in the folder name - my computer, at least (I'm using WinRAR on a computer with Vista) will save the downloaded zip as Wherever You Are....zip but, when it comes time to extract the files, will drop the ellipsis from the new folders. So WinRAR is trying to extract the songs to /Wherever You Are.../ but the folder's /Wherever You Are/ instead, hence the error message.

I managed to work around it by opening the file up in WinRAR and changing the folder names to remove the ellipses - if you use this method, keep in mind that there are two to change: /Wherever You Are.../ and /_MACOSX/Wherever You Are.../

From: [identity profile] wandrinparakeet.livejournal.com
Thanks for the heads up! I just changed the file name to leave out the ellipsis, so...perhaps it will work without the workaround now?

I'll ask folks to test.

Really looking forward to listening to the mix, I always love it when a lot of thought and effort goe into these thing - one tiny problem I had though was that one of the songs (tenth one, Close Your Eyes) won't play on my computer or copy to my iPod; it's telling me I'm not authorised to use it. With so much lovely music provided, I almost don't want to complain, but...

Blasted iTunes. I tend to forget where I've gotten songs, so I live in hope songs are shareable.

This should hopefully now be fixed (I've replaced that track and reuploaded.) So, if you download again, it should be all set!

Sorry to make you download it all again -- would y'all prefer to have individual song files? I'm never sure...the zip file just seemed easiest at the time.

OK, so I just added just that particular track to the folder so you should be able to download it separately and replace.

YAY! I'm so glad.

I always feel more people should remember/rediscover Better Than Ezra. The man can sing, and...if you ever seem them live, he has remarkably potent sex appeal. Remarkable hips. Ahem.

Hello! I downloaded this fanmix a while ago (when you first posted it, I believe) but my iPod broke and my laptop broke so I wasn't able to listen to it in its entirety - I just appreciated that there were a lot of artists that I recognized and liked on the mix.

But then, I found it lurking on my hard drive the other day and FINALLY gave it a listen and I have to say that it's absolutely and completely brilliant.

I listened to it without looking at your liner notes but there were so many songs that I just automatically associated with various moments in the fics - and when I DID take a look at your liner notes, I chuckled because you made me see (hear?) it so clearly that I kept saying "Oh yeah! That's exactly what I thought of when I listened to the song too!"

It really was just a perfect blend of everything that gyzm's stories are. Sweet but not cloying. Snarky but not mean. Hot and sexy as hell but romantic and beautiful too.

I was dancing around my apartment to your mix on V-Day, and it lifted those "needing-to-study-when-everyone-else-is-out-having-a-good time" blues.

Thanks for sharing!

Wow, this is such a lovely comment!

First off, I'm glad you were able to recover it -- I hate it when I'm searching through my music and being like, "I know it's here somewhere...argh!"

It's great to know that you could follow the path of the stories through the songs even without the liner notes, especially given the randomness of how many songs I ended up with per story and moment. I know I can do that, but it's exciting to know that the links are clear enough that readers can find all the beats.

I'm so glad it helped lift your V-Day blues too -- I know that experience all too well. Thanks so much for letting me know how you enjoyed the mix!

Your icon is reminding me I need to go fedora shopping. And tie shopping. Must get on that...:D
